The simulation of stand development is controlled by a Crop Plan. The Crop Plan is a sequence of Crop Plan events (see links in left column) that determine the source and characteristics of the stand, the growth schedule, and the timing and method of other activities like thinning, harvest, and regeneration. Within the MGM workbook, the Crop Plans worksheet is the location where one or more plans are constructed and become the basis for later growth simulation. Each crop plan has an identifier (CropPlanID) and a collection of crop plans has an identifier (CropPlansID). Using the CropPlansID, the contents of the Crop Plans worksheet may be saved into the MGM Crop Plans workbook for later retrieval and execution. The following table illustrates the basic layout of the Crop Plans worksheet with four empty crop plans.

Typical information needed to prepare and execute a growth simulation using a crop plan includes age, site, the tree list (with its required information) and the planned events or treatments. These are created and organized using the MGM Toolbar. Additional details on the construction of crop plans is provided in the section on the Crop Plans worksheet. A example crop plan is included here to illustrate the "look" of a complete plan. Note that only two columns of settings are shown. Other settings appear as needed in columns to the right (but omitted in this example).
